Wood-Fired Pizza in Santa Rosa — Capriciano Osteria
Our wood-fired pizza in Santa Rosa is baked in a firewood oven and served at dinner from 5 PM, six nights a week (closed Tuesdays).
At Capriciano, our pizza is a love letter to Naples and the firewood ovens of Italy. Each pie begins with a hand-stretched dough, gets dressed with San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, and finishes in our wood-fired oven — where the high heat blisters the crust, melts the cheese, and locks in flavor in a way no other method can match. From the classic Margherita to our signature Pizza Capriciano, every pizza is built to be shared. What Makes Our Pizza Special?

What to Expect at Your Table
Why Choose Our Pizza?
Wood-Fired the Right Way
Our pizzas are cooked in a true firewood oven at high heat — the only way to get the char, lift, and texture that define a real Italian pie. Each pizza is hand-stretched, dressed, and slid into the oven and out again in minutes, never longer than it should be.
Authentic Italian Ingredients
San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Italian sausage, fontina, pesto, pancetta — our pizza menu is built on the ingredients Italians have always used. Every pie pairs naturally with a glass from our Italian and California wine list.
Wood-Fired Pizza in Santa Rosa, Straight from the Firewood Oven
At Capriciano, wood-fired pizza in Santa Rosa is part of a full Italian dinner rather than a pizzeria order. Our pies are listed under Pizze | Firewood Oven: the Margherita, the Funghi & Salsicce with wild mushrooms and Italian sausage, and the Pizza Capriciano with shrimp and pancetta. They share the table with antipasti, salads, handmade pasta and fresh seafood, so a pizza can be a main course for one or a shared plate for the whole group, next to a glass of Nero d’Avola or a crisp Italian pilsner.

What pizzas are on the menu?
The Margherita is San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, the simplest test of any oven. The Funghi & Salsicce layers cream sauce and San Marzano tomatoes with wild mushrooms, Italian sausage, fontina and arugula. The Pizza Capriciano, our namesake, brings garlic cream sauce, seasonal vegetables, pesto, ricotta, pecorino, Parmigiano, shrimp, pancetta and black pepper. Order one each and share, with Marinated Mediterranean Olives or Shishito Pepper from the Bites list on the side.
Is the pizza really wood-fired?
Yes. Every pizza on the menu is baked in our firewood oven, which is why the menu lists them under Pizze | Firewood Oven. Wood-fired pizza is one of the things our kitchen is built around, together with handmade pasta, fresh seafood and Italian-style antipasti. Pair one with a Menabrea Bionda, a floral, crisp Italian pilsner from Biella, or with a glass of Feudo Montoni Nero d’Avola from Sicily, with its dark cherry and plum.
Is Capriciano a pizzeria?
No. Capriciano is an Italian fine-dining osteria, open for dinner only. Pizza shares the menu with Antipasti Freddi and Caldi, Insalate, Pasta, Carne and Pesce e Molluschi, and with a list of Italian, Sonoma County and Napa Valley wines, Italian-style craft beer and wine-based aperitivi. Come for a pizza and a glass, or build a longer dinner around it, with a starter to begin and a Tiramisu, Panna Cotta or Affogato, plus a glass of dessert wine, to finish.
